General Information
The Hospitality/Tourism Youth Apprenticeship program is available during a student’s junior or senior year. Interested students should apply during the second semester of their sophomore or junior year. When the school-based and work-based requirements are met for either the one or two-year programs, the students receive a Certificate of Occupational Proficiency from the Department of Workforce Development.

On track for high school graduation

A Career interest in Hospitality/Tourism

Students are encouraged to successfully complete at least one job shadow previous to enrollment in YA
Course Information
Related instruction courses may be delivered through your local high school, Madison College, or through online courses. Depending on what program you are in i.e., tourism, culinary, or hospitality, your coursework will align with your program. Students may be expected to attend courses outside their high school.
Worksite Participation
The Dane County office will offer students assistance in finding a position, however further support may needed from local school district personnel, parent / guardian, and the student.
To receive the State Skills Certificate students must complete

450 hours of work experience to earn a one-year certificate, and
-
900 hours of work experience to earn a two-year certificate.
