Hi everyone! I'm wondering if you can tell me about your school schedule. Specifically, are students able to have a release period built into their schedule? Not for work or anything specific, just a free period?
At Waunakee, we offer juniors and seniors responsibility release (in lieu of one SH per semester) -- parents must sign off, GPA must be 2.7 or higher, and student cannot have any behavior issues. This release is off-campus and students would be expected to get a pass from a teacher to be in the building if the release is on their schedule. (Safety, tracking student attendance)
Our junior/senior students can have release during their study hall period if they pass their classes/have good grades/good behavior. With being new, I'm not sure if students are ever granted a release "just because" but I do know about the study hall release option. If students do take advantage of open study hall, they do need parent approval first.
Our seniors can have senior release as long as they are passing all classes and have no attendance issues (no unexcused tardies or absences). If they do it will be revoked.
Our Juniors and Seniors are allowed responsibility passes for meeting certain criteria, allowing them to leave the building. The policy is being looked at for upgrade or revision for next school year.

Evansville High School allows seniors only to have a free release period or open study hall as we call it.

Our seniors are allowed one block per semester of "senior priviledge". It is basically a free block. It can be "in house" or off campus.
